Greetings Lurkers and/or Passerbys . If youve just joined us, we have
been taking a Tenet of Atheism each week and discussing it.   A tenet
according to wikipedia is  : ' any opinion, principle, dogma, or
doctrine which a person or group believes or maintains ' . From this
definition, it can be seen that Atheism as well as every other
philosophy or world religion...contains 'Tenets' for what they follow ,
believe in, and act on . Some atheists resent being told there are
Tenets to their Belief System because it then puts THEM on the defensive
and open to scrutiny , but, atheism has does in fact have  tenets as we
see by the definition above.

These will be the last Tenets of Atheism that we will be discussing.
Starting next week, we will be exploring Popular Atheist Misconceptions
(whether by ignorance or willfully asserted... knowing beforehand that
they were misconceptions).

Tenets of Atheism :  Truth and Reason

Truth :  Atheism purports and supposes that there is no objective truth
and so, truth is relative ;  each person has their own 'truth' for
themselves and furthermore....we should be tolerant of whatever truth
they have found for themselves (Whether this applied 'truth' is moral,
virtuous, civil, or beneficial for oneself or for society...is
secondary, IF it is considered at all).  

Reason:  Atheism claims to be a reasonable Belief System which one can
embrace and highly values by being able to offer reasons in defense of
what they follow , believe in, and act on .

Critique :  Truth ---   Most atheists believe that atheism is true and
theism is false. But to state that atheism is true implies that there is
such a thing as objective truth (To prove this point.., when an atheist
says 'there is no absolute objective truth'... ask them :' Was  YOUR
statement absolutely objectively true ?!' ) .  Most atheists do NOT
believe that atheism is true ONLY for them. But if atheism is true ,
there must be a basis for objective truth. Truth is a characteristic of
a mind, and objective truth implies an objective Mind beyond our finite
Minds.

Critique :  Reason ---  Most atheists pride themselves on being
rational, but, why be rational if the Universe is the result of
irrational chance ? There is no reason to be reasonable in a random
universe. Hence, the very thing in which atheists most pride themselves
is not possible apart from God.

REPLY: Non-sequitur.  If  you cant defend your faith based religion of
atheism, then resort to hominem attacks .
