Catch it if you can!
There's a couple of days left on BBC Radio 7's 'listen again' facility
to catch Mr William Russell reading his novella, Shirley Valentine.
Shirley's monologues addressed to her kitchen wall as she prepares those
great English culinary delights, chips and egg or chips and fish, are
hilarious.

"Marriage? It's like the middle east. There's no solution. You just hope
that the curfew and ceasefire is observed and keep your head down."

"Sex? It's like shopping in Sainsbury. An hour of pushing and shoving
and nothing much to show at the end."

Shirley lands a job in Greek restaurant in Greece and tempts uneasy
English tourists by cooking them surreptitious dishes of chips and fish
or chips and egg.

An entertaining 90-minutes.
