The trial of the man accused of murdering a Wheeling resident is under
way in Ohio County.

The 12 jurors will decide whether Frederick Ferguson is guilty of
killing 19-year-old Maurice Sears, of Wheeling, two years ago.

Wednesday morning, just after jury selection, the jurors rode to the
crime scene on 23rd Street in Wheeling. Prosecutors said the trip will
help the jury visualize the scene during the trial.

Ferguson is accused of fatally shooting Sears on May 17, 2006. The
case has taken two years to come to trial because prosecutors said
there was a delay in getting evidence back from the state police. The
gun was never recovered.

Prosecutors said this case could last until early next week because
there are many witnesses taking the stand. The defense attorneys told
jurors Ferguson will also testify.
