Precisely (as has been made clear earlier)  - and bus stations don't.

Therefore perhaps if a bus station (on private property) puts up a
sign saying No Smoking - you will not actually be breaking any law of
the land if you ignore it.

That depends on what proprtion of the bus station is enclosed.

Eastleigh bus station is "No Smoking".

It IS illegal to smoke in it

(NB... the buses are actually in the outside bit, so it is legal for them to 
smoke there.).

And as has been observed here many times, buses do tend to smoke a bit.
