Red Card
Someone has received a rocket because of his mention of a particular
organisation. They're open in many ways but some of the disciplines
they're researching with the aid of large bucket of readies are very
sensitive. They'll claim commercial confidentiality but it's more
complicated than that. One thing they're hot on is what they call
jargon leakage.

They're all a bunch of Kierkargaard existentialists.
Try to set up a existential Usenet newsgroup (use alt.config) and
you'll soon out just how touchy they are. As far as I know there
aren't any existential newsgroups. Every other philiosophical
discipline under the sun but not that one.

Speak plainly.

A good point well made will be warmly received here, I assure you.

Equivocation will not.

Depends, doesn't it? Mr Eilbeck has a big one and he can wiggle it

So many rockets, so little sky!

I don't suppose anyone has a decent sized farm that's not below any
flightpaths, and they wouldn't mind a bunch of geeks turning up on
their doorstep on a regular basis, do they?

My neighbours are Middle Wallop, Lasham, Odiham and at a pinch Boscombe
Down. I suspect that anyone lauching a rocket around here is in danger
of starting WWIII.

Pretty much the same neighbours here, except maybe swap Farnborough for
Middle Wallop. I've often toyed with the idea of "illuminating" an
overflying low Chinook with my high power green laser, so far I've
resisted temptation, can't help wondering what the response would be.

Is it Farnborough airshow this year? We seem to be under the low
approach path West-East, and the left turn point for North-East for the
show and get loads of exotic stuff passing overhead at low altitude
every other year. I'll fetch me anorak.

I could illuminate a Chinook in these parts by striking a match. I've
wondered a couple of times which one has been Wales.

I think it's FRN show this year, yes. I'm sure I've seen the obligatory
local TV report about the "miracle" of building all the display stands.

I could probably find you a field at my Mum's place, as long as she had
notice to get the HORSES out of the way first. But I expect you'd
consider the end of the left pointing bit at the top of Wales a bit far.

I've been out and about in the fields and seen them flying along below
me, which is pretty weird given how not_very_hilly N.Hants is.

If I'm on the third floor of the house I sometimes see one flying below
my eyeline. Which is scary considering the house is on the floor of a
valley.

I once wrote a letter of complaint to MoD that Chinooks used our house
as a Visual Flight Reference and got a patronising letter back saying
that many people feel this way but they don't do such things in the RAF
since they have top whizzo navigation electronics.

A few months later I was working on said helicopters and during a chat
with a pilot about life in general he asked where I live. I told him and
he said, "Oh yes, that one with the two really tall chimneys? I often
use that when flying VFR."

Last time I looked at the air nav charts, they've all got very low
uncontrolled airspace ceilings and most are very close to major roads.
You could launch at the weekend though, the junior service rarely
operate at the weekend. Ruins the schedule for Pimms, old bean!

A guy in Manchester got four months for doing just that to a police
helicopter.

How big a field? Wales ain't all that far, especially for some of the

I was thinking more along the lines of a guided missile or a hail of gun

Whatever happened to disused airfields?

Sold off I s'pose.

IIWY, I'd send that Mikey Carroll(sp?) bloke an email, or even go and see
him.

I'm pretty sure he'd be up for it.

Bonza! What we could really do with is a farm about 2 miles across
but if it was smaller and we could negotiate with the neighbours,
that'd be good too.

There's a great big hot air ballon there with an 'A' on it. What's that all
about?

The landslides along the coast are incredible in that image, aren't
they? That house nearest to the edge was sold about ten years ago to a
bloke who'd calculated erosion at 1ft per year, giving him 40 years of
use. That view is stark lesson in the difference between average rates
and what actually happens.

3 miles away at Llanengan, The Sun Inn. Not been there in years, but I'm
told it's now very nice.

Wimp Out?

Did you SEE the size of the spiders in that caravan?

I opened a cupboard and one of the buggers pulled it shut again.

When you have mastered numbers, you will in fact no
longer be reading numbers, any more than you read words
when reading books. You will be reading meanings.

Heh, there's no way I would paint that on a roof (a) I might know the
pilots and (b) it only encourages them and it's difficult enough for
them to get their heads through a standard doorway as it is.

It is. Chez bof got a low-level flypast from a brace of F22 "Raptors"
yesterday and a B-1 has just given us a flypast today.
