He's still claiming that the "owners" did it; they must have been so
impressed with what he said that they came round to his house and used
his computer to make the edits.

He's tried to keep open the possibility that he did both, but comments
like "In the case of the report about my death, the owners did accept
my word that the report was exaggerated" and "Wiki altered the entry
and that's all that mattered" would be thought tantamount to closing
it off by, well, by anybody except JimJams, really.
Or, I suppose, in JimJamsWorld, "I wrote [...] to the Wiki's owners"
could simply mean "I filled in the WP edit form and clicked
'send'". Who knows? I should know better than to worry about what it
means.
Just for the record, Wikipedia never did carry the offending report,
of course - it only said that such a rumour had been spread on
the^H^H^HUsenet. JF seems to drift a little on that point at times.
Has anyone had anything amusing happen to them in connection with a

Yes, me. But that doesn't make for much of an anecdote, does it?

No, that was Boyd Rice, who also used to interview umpires.

A friend of mine had one whose hobby was watching him (with a certain
horrified fascination) take a bath.
She used to sit on the side of the bath while he bathed.
One time (the last time) she did this, he was getting out and she
spotted a - how can I phrase this? - target of opportunity dangling
nearby, and gave it a hefty whack. He says he's never left the bath more
quickly.
She was not allowed in the bathroom again.
*I* found this terribly amusing. He did too- eventually.

You're thinking of Harold "Dickie" Boyd, the Bronx vampire who married
Rex Harrison.

My dog often stands guard by the bath while I'm in it. Luckily, I
don't present much of a target.

"Tyrannosaurus" Rex Harrison, the actor renowned for his small arms? And
the later, career ending, small arms fire?

Or "Sid" as he was known during the week. A hard job holding that up, but
he managed to pull it off.

Such a shame that her sister Babs got all those film roles ahead of her.
Her tragic life could have been so different.
