Sumer is icumen in
Yep, longest day tomorrow, official Summer. Have a nice one

Here Spring has been the wettest for at least 25 years. The locals
aren't unhappy about it because there has been a rain deficit for years,
though in the last few weeks they've complained a bit all the same, June
is really late for it to be raining still. It's for the tourists that it
is the saddest. The rain was liveable, giant downpours usually of short
duration, thunderstorms all night etc, but It breaks my heart to see
them wandering about in shorts and carrying an opened umbrella. We can
be patient, we know that summer will come, but those poor bastards have
saved up all year for a fortnight here and it bloody rains. Poor sods.
However for the last three days things have got back to (our) normal and
so we can start complaining about how bloody hot it is.

Tomorrow in France, as every year for the last quarter century or so, it
is music day, La FĂȘte de la Musique, when anyone who plays music is
encouraged to come out into the street and do their thing. It is highly
successful and popular among all ages. This year, it being a weekend,
it'll probably spill over into Sunday so if you want a weekend away and
some cheap booze to boot, Eurostar/ferries are waiting for your call. It
doesn't matter where you end up, there'll be stuff going on, even in
Calais, yes, even in Calais.
