working tax credit scenario
A friend of mine is in a quandary.... she is disabled -and on working
tax credit due to being lone parent/low income with young a child.
Her health has deteriorated to such that she is considering having a
friend of hers come and live with her to act as her carer and carry
out household duties- cleaning/cooking etc that she is currently
unable to do due to her health issues....

Question is the following- will her money be affected if a friend
moves in as her carer? Even if she isnt contributing to her bills and
mortgage etc? Anybody in similar position?

It depends on what other benefits she is getting.

If she is getting Working Tax Credit then she must be working. And if
she has her own house then she isn't getting any Housing Benefit. The
only things I can think of - does she get any help towards her Council
Tax (Council Tax Benefit)? Does she get a Single Persons Discount from
the Council Tax section? If yes to either of these then there might be
an affect.

Finally, and it might sound a bit nosey, but is her friend a boyfriend
etc? That could affect her Working Tax Credit.

Is your friend getting Disability Living Allowance at all? If she needs
help with daily living tasks she might be entitled to some help from
that particular benefit scheme.
