Rules about married couples?
My brother is on Income Support.
He is getting married in a month. (his wife to be is in full time
employment)

Will he have to tell them?

Will this effect the amount he gets?

Yes and yes.
Household income affects the amount of income support paid.

Its possible they may be able to get tax credits (depending on hours
and income).

No, as long as he funnels the money through a "think tank" to become deputy
PM, then he does not have to declare it, and if anyone finds out, say you
forgot, or it does not matter, you didnt know it had to be declared etc ;)

Yes.

Or are they living together now? If they are living together he should
have been declaring her income anyway, married or not.

Taxation however is "independant" so it won't affect the amount of
income tax she pays. It's an important principle, independant
taxation, according to the government (and some people are stupid
enough to believe them).

Well its important to those who would otherwise be paying more tax.
But to those who would be paying less tax, independant taxation isn't
exactly the best thing. :)
