Xmas payments
With xmas eve and new years eve being a normal monday and not a bank holiday
is it fair to assume payment will still be paid on those days and not the
friday before?

Thanks robbie
Thats what logic told me but i saw an article in the papers today about
pensions being paid at post offices which was unclear so thought it worth
asking the question (about pension credit, which i notice i forget to
mention).

Post Offices have different arrangements for some days as eg on
Christmas Eve many close at 12.30pm but for those paid via the banks it
is determined by how the banking system works - many people get paid on
the 31st and pensions etc are paid in the same way.

For payment into accounts the payment will be credited on the normal
payday or if that a bank hol the banking day before. This is the same
for all hols.

For chq payments it's a little more complicated but the cheque is on
the normal payday or if that a bank hol the banking day before (never
a sat.). The cheques are sent out allowing extra days postage for
xmas and can ususlyy be cashed early as the PO never seen to look at
the date on the chq.

I'm due a direct credit payment on the 1st of Jan '08 (Tue). As this will be
a bank holiday, will it go in on the 31st of Jan (Mon) or on the 2nd of Jan
(Wed)?
