A few days work
Hi,

I'm on JSA, but I have been offered a couple of days work next week -
it should be less than 16 hours.

IRC I can do up to 16 hours without having to sign off.

The work is on my signing day next Thursday - do I tell the DWP before
or after I do the work?

Cheers.

Let them know before you do the work so they will not be expecting you
in on your normal day - this will help to avoid unneccessary 'Failed
to Attend' action.

When you contact them you should also make arrangements for going in
*after* your normal day to make your declaration of jobsearch and
earnings. If you contact them by phone, rather than visiting the
office, do make sure you get the name of the person who rearranges
your attendance time.

You must appreciate that any JSA payment you are due will be later
than normal due to later attendance.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Would a phone call be to the JC be OK - or would I be better popping
into the office?

Depends on your local JC - do they still have the capacity to deal
with casual callers? (Staff cuts have made this almost inpossible in
some locations.)

I'd always advocate face to face contact where possible - you could
pick up the necessary P/Time work forms whilst you're there and do a
bit of Jobsearch via the Jobpoints at the same time.

Re: A few days work
That is my worry too - I'll phone give them all the info, and it will be
forgotten or lost.

My JC isn't that easy to get too unfortunately, being right in the centre
of the city - so if I could phone it would be easier for me.

I think I'll wait until I get the firm offer of work and than phone the JC
and see what they say.

I don't need the Jobpoints, I access all the same info from home via the
Internet. I then use the 0845 number to get more details, been doing that
for awhile now.
