Tax refund
If on JSA or IB, as I understand it you can't claim a tax refund as it comes
through automatically at the end of the financial year.
What about Pension Credit? This year, before stopping work in August, I
paid just over £400 in tax. Can I apply for a refund or do the same rules
apply as for JSA and IB.
Before someone suggests it, I have been trying to ring the tax office for a
fortnight but always get a "busy, try again later" message.
Thanks for any advice from those who know about these things!

It was once if you stopped work and signed on and you have paid tax
the DWP will repay any tax due back from the P45 from the preceding 6
April so the tax will even out. Don`t know about Pension Credit
however. Get form P50 for claiming tax back when stop working. This
mentions you cannot be receiving JSA or IS so I think you can claim
the repayment in year depending if you have any income from now to 5
April 2008.
