spectacles NHS prescription
I have 2 pair of expensive frames which I aquired(bought) when I was
working, can I just have the lenses fitted to these frames with the issued
NHS voucher from opticians?
Reason being NHS priced spectacles leave a lot to be desired.
TIA

Yes, can do that.
My wife and I buy our own frames and use NHS vouchers towards costs of
lenses every time.
Not come across an optician who doesn't use it like that.

Hi Martin
You do suprise me,I thought the lenses were free? I mean I don't mind if
they still want the full vouchers worth but hey at least let me have the
decency to wear good reliable frames.

My lenses would be covered totally by the voucher except I have
reactolite lenses in one pair and darkened lenses in the other.
The vouchers in theory cover basic lens and very basic glasses. But
even the poorest people I know who wear glasses seem to prefer
something more stylish than limited selection of cheap frames.
Mind you, better than when I was a kid. Basic black or brown frames on
NHS - yuck.
