Why don't jobcentres suggest people do Learndirect courses?
If someone has been unemployed for a certain period than JC will
often suggest they do a training for work scheme. After a further
period they will insist someone does a training for work scheme.
Fair enough maybe but why can't they mention Learn direct courses. Why
can't learn direct count as training for work?
I suspect the reason is because if someone does a Learndirect course
then JC don't get any credit as it does not form part of their
targets. Also I suspect that the don't like the fact that someone
doing a Learndirect course can't be monitored in the way some one
attending a more formal training environement.
But myself I learn better when I work at my own pace and on my own. In
a class I just get lost and left behind so its better for me to do
something like Learndirect .

As much as anything else, it won't get the JC any funding since funding
depends, along with other things, on people going to approved training
centres. Learndirect can be done at home or in your local library and
isn't something that you need to be unemployed to do.
It is also something that the JC would see as something that a jobseeker
could do to delay what JC's wish you to do - get off their books! I'm
sure you realise that JC's aren't there to just keep people on benefit
while they do what they want...

Points make prizes for JC staff and their managers.
