A lesson for the lib dems
I found some of the lib dem results interesting in the recent local
elections:

1. Islington lib dems got wiped out in their former stronghold with a
loss of 12 lib dems to labour leading to the council going NOC.

2. Winchester lib dems lost 5 libs dems to the tories which resulted in
the capture of Winchester by the tories.

There is an interesting story behind these two lib dem reversals.

Islington
The lib dems became arrogant and ran their local party like a mini
dictatorship. All the lib dem councillors who did not want to become
robots for a ruling minority of control freaks voted with their feet
and did not stand. Result was that a load of yes men were put forward
who no one in Islington knew, in the place of strong former lib dem
councillors. For all the folk in Islington to vote for labour and take
out a lib dem majority took some doing. Lesson: if you want support
from people who give up their spare time to serve their community for
your party then do not create an authoritarian dictatorship over them.

Winchester
What a disaster... this is the seat that Mark Oaten took in some
spectacular fashion for MP. If I remember this seat went down to a
couple of votes that was ovetturned when the tories went to law, in the
new election the people of Winchester considered the tories as bad
losers and effectivley destroyed them in the rerun of the election.

Mark Oaten was a guy in his 30's when he took power and over a couple
of years brought on by excess sex hormones and stress lost his hair. Mr
Oaten then has what he describes as a midlife crisis, due to his
hairloss and the stress of his job as MP, that results in him bonking
some 23 year old man. The rent boy goes to the newspapers, the
newspapers goes to Mr Oaten and Mr Oaten has to then explain to his
wife and children his new interests in life concerning male bottoms.

Electors like their councillors and MPs to be strong men who are
capable of handling the job. Whilst Mr Oaten may be able to handle
another man's penis he certainly appears to be unable to handle his
role as MP. The voters took revenge on the libs dems in Winchester due
to the weak man they have as their MP. The next general election will
bring in a tory MP in Winchester.

Kennedy with his drink problem and Mark Oaten with his many personal
problems gives the libs dems an appearance of being run by weak
pathetic men. Lesson here is put forward strong men who are able to
handle the stress of their positions. The lib dems look like right
prats with the likes of Mr Oaten representing them.
