Ex wife has died suddenly on Tuesday
Does anyone know what happens next, we have been separated for 8 years and
divorced for 6. I have one son of 15 that was living with her in her parents
house. I was on Old CSA rules before and have not seen my son for 5 years
because she wouldnt allow contact. My ex father in law has told me that my
son wishes to live with them but nothing has been sorted out yet. I always
paid my CSA by direct debit before but have cancelled this until I know more
about whats happening.

You need to tell them straight away. Your case should be closed, although
as a bureaucracy it may take a while for everything to be verified in the
way that red tape always requires.

As to moving forward, hopefully your in-laws will see the need for your son
to maintain contact with you. Hopefully you'll be able able to come to a
provate arragement with them, but should they wish to open their own case,
it will be on new rules.

Re: Ex wife has died suddenly on Tuesday
The grand parents will need to apply for Guardianship and to CSA if they
want to continue with that system however it's now in your best interest to
talk directly with them and your son with view to coming to a private
arrangment, negating the need for them to do this and get CSA out of all of
your lives.

Do comunicate with CSA in writing and make sure you get it in writing from
them that the case is now efectivly closed as she is dead or arears will
continue to build and they will chase you for them.
