CSA & a large mortgage
Okay, hypothetical question.

Income: £100,000
Value of house: £700,000
Monthly Mortgage Repayment: £9,500
Mortgage Term: 15 years

What could the CSA1 system claim? Techcnically I would have £500 per month
left to live on, ignoring ALL other bills.

Re: CSA & a large mortgage
Income = £100,000
Mortgage = £9,500 a month = £114,000 a year.
Loss = £14,000 a year.

So how come you have £500 a month (£6,000) a year left to live on??

If I were the CSA, I'd be involving the tax man!

Sorry I haven't answered the original question- there are others here who
are far more qualified than me to answer that.

Think they'll need other details like how many children, what ages, how much
is your council tax?
Been a while since I was 'done', so can't remember exactly whats taken into
account.

Re: CSA & a large mortgage
CSA1 allows maximum of 50% net income to pay mortgage.

So, if you take home £10k per month CSA1 only allows
£5k mortgage cover. And by my crude reckoning, they'll
look to shaft you for 30% of the remainder. £1500 per
month, or £18000 per annum.
