my son finished further education this year so my csa payments should
end this month
contacted them to ask when my final payment would be..to cut along
story short they said my case was being closed on the 10th of
september (i have asked for written confirmation of this)

BUT!!!!!!!!!!!!
they said i was in arrears of just under 4k.so iwas paying £231.00 a
month this is now going to be reduced to £165.00 a month ,i told them
i was under the impression that arrears were negotiable? well not
now,either i pay £165.00 a month for the next 2 years,this is the time
they have to recoup the money i was told today by ss personel OR WE
TAKE 40% OF YOUR INCOME.

can somebody please tell me if this is correct?
for the first time in my life ive thought about becoming a suicide
bomber..on a one way ticket to belfast

Current guidance is to recover all outstanding arrears within 2 years. 
Arrears can be set lower provisionally on the understanding that it will be 
reviewed at a later date.

First of all, arrears are negotiable under the law.  The "take it or
leave it" 40% bullshit is just that - bullshit.  Secondly, have you
any idea whether or not that figure is correct?  Considering how
frequently they get it wrong (almost every time!), I doubt it.  Appeal
against the figure and demand a complete breakdown of exactly how the
numbskulls calculated the figure.
