What the experts missed!
As one who professes to know precisely where every Bittern is breeding
in the UK one would at least think Dr Malcolm Ogilvie might have been
good enough to attend this conference to give the "experts" the
benefit of unqualified knowledge.

http://www.bitterns.org.uk/files/attendeelogsheetdec2005conference.xls

The following is an Internet exchange which took place on 31/08/08 on
the uk.environment.conservation newsgroup between Dr Malcolm Ogilvie,
a senior scientific adviser to Scottish Natural Heritage, and Angus
Macmillan.

Dr Ogilvie:
"I happen to know precisely where Bitterns breed in England".

Angus Macmillan:
"So where "precisely" do they breed in England or do you only know
where some breed? The inference is you know where they all breed."

Dr Ogilvie:
"That is a correct inference"

The link above gives the email addresses of experts who have missed
out so perhaps Dr Ogilvie would be kind enough to reveal to them the
benefit of his knowledge and save the Bittern organisation the bother
of having to ask the public for details of sighting or hearings.

If not, I shall be delighted to forward this post the to the "experts"
and the Bittern organisation themselves.

Oh look, old age is fast catching up on Angus, such that he has posted
two different versions of the same message within an hour and a half!!

Perhaps you should have gone to bed earlier :-))

You've a bilge full of prejudice, Malcolm.

You're prejudiced against non-natives, people with low academic
qualification, menial task workers and old age.

You really are a bagful of joy.

You'll be old yourself someday in the past :-))
