A letter I agree with.......
Dear Sir

An "ancient" scam?

Most people will probably think if a woodland is classified as
"ancient" then it should have ancient trees that are a few hundred
years old. Not necessarily so!

In their quest for public support in terms of memberships and
donations, conservation organisations deftly avoid mentioning ancient
trees as part of ancient woodlands. It seems they identify the latter
by looking at an early map and if a woodland site existed at that time
- anywhere between 1600 and the 1800s - they call it an "ancient
woodland", irrespective of whether it has been clear felled, burned
out, or died off - provided there some trees on it of any age.

Indeed, in a Freedom of Information request, English Nature advised me
that, "the term 'ancient ' refers to the history of the site and the
continuity of woodland cover, not to the age of the trees. Thus many
ancient woods have been cut-over and the trees will have regrown many
times during the last few centuries. At times an ancient wood may
consist predominantly of young trees. So native trees planted within
an ancient woodland will be part of that ancient woodland, but if
native trees are planted on an open site such as a field or block of
moorland then this does make the area an ancient wood", which makes
them little different from any other wood except that the
conservationists can put forward an emotive argument that is
financially rewarding for them.

Perhaps we, the public, should decide what "ancient woodlands" we want
to protect and preserve on our doorstep and cut out the middle-men who
are only after our money.

Oh dear something seems to have upset Ogilvie the pedant and troll. I
wonder if it could have been a letter to SNH telling them about your
newsgroup stalking and bullying in their name?

Don't tell me he/she/it-of-a-thousand-names actually slipped its
"Malcolm" sock-puppet past your radar, Angus. Have you got a really
good bottle of malt on the go? Or is old age beginning to break
through?

Not at all.

Here's what Malcolm said:

_______________

Angus:
"And it should be recognised that deer can come out of woodlands on to
roads - especially if disturbed by human activities - shooting,
dogwalkers etc."

Malcolm:
"Indeed, but on 74,000 occasions a year, there are collisions between
deer and road users. And disturbance by shooting or walkers is only
involved in some of them."

Not at all. You're confused or lying. You were answering my specific
point and I pointed out what Malcolm Ogilvie had said. It's all
documented.

Look like you've finished your malt and the effect is still with you.

Typical Angus grasping at straws. "Some" can mean anything from
0.00000000000001% up. Angus will try to make use of the word some as if
it means most or a large proportion.

I wasn't answering anything. I was pointing out that you had replied
to a post that you seemed to think contained a statement by Malcolm
when in fact it wasn't. I was telling you to simply back up the thread
to the second post in order to see what I was referring to. Obviously
you didn't understand this - I can only imagine this was due to you
being yourself.

In order that you remain in the dark no longer about this, I have
isolated the text of the post above, by sectioning it off with dashed
lines above and below. You will note that it appears to come from
Malcolm, but is in fact a forgery, most likely by the person or thing
that replied to it very shortly after
it was posted. HTH.
Your remaining in the dark about all other aspects of human knowledge,
I can do nothing about :-(

More nonsense. That was me referring to the earlier post.

I have the full text leading up to where Malcolm Ogilve said it.

Let me understand you correctly. The line that reads,"Here is some
more Macmillan bullshitting the public :-)" as it appeared in the
second post in the thread, and outlined (as above) by me in my
previous post, was*you*forging a post from Malcolm. At least you have
had the decency to admit it. I thought it was by he/she/it-of-a-

That's an interesting post and clear case of bullying by an SNH
employee. I wonder what they would have to say about his behaviour
here on these newsgroups in bullying others like Pat etc.

I think we should start a campaign with SNH and the Scottish
Parliament and just see how much support Ogilvie the loose cannon has
for his bullying and stalking campaign against newsgroup members?

In the way that your forefathers tell
And never a country has been so great
The stories Britannia could tell

I never want to live my life
Away from the golden shores
There's never a country in the world
With the scent of an English rose

England oh England a country so great
A land that's so fair and so true
There'll never be any colours like
The red the white and the blue

Whenever you go to a far off land
There's something goes with you
The pride and the joy and the love that comes

Go away, idiot.
England's colours are red and white - not red white and blue.
The Union Jack is only the small Union Flag that is flown at a ships Jack
Staff and it is NOT England's flag but is the Union flag.

You are spouting stupid and wrong facts.
Do you not know the difference between England and the UK?

As you can see from Pete's reply (that's what he called himself years
ago when he started out on Usenet), Robert, he/she/it believes him/her/
itself to be cool-literate. Let's see what little gems of language he/
she/it will disgorge in response to this post.

Strangely Trifleman is also unable to post correctly and starts his
posts with signature dividers (double hyphens!) just like this numpty.

Maybe the two are related.

Here was me thinking that all English people had finally realised
belatedly that the Union Flag was not the flag of England but of the
UK.

I wonder how many of them know the words of, "Rule Britannia", were written
by the Scottish pre-Romantic poet James Thompson (1700-1748) author of The

England / Angelic Upstarts

The red in the flag is the blood that was spilt
In the way that your forefathers tell
And never a country has been so great
The stories Britannia could tell

I never want to live my life
Away from the golden shores
There's never a country in the world
With the scent of an English rose

England oh England a country so great
A land that's so fair and so true
There'll never be any colours like
The red the white and the blue

Whenever you go to a far off land
There's something goes with you
The pride and the joy and the love that comes
For your mother of red white and blue

You could never be born under a flag that's like
The one of the Union Jack
St.Georges spirit has never died
It all keeps coming back

Yes Little Dear! We know it is and you are very welcome to it.
Sorry if I upset you by pointing out the very common errors that it
contained.

The trouble is that, "Britannia", signifies the, "United Kingdom Of Great
Britain and Northern Ireland", and thus the reference to, "a country", is
rather strange for that nation is composed of four countries. Only one of
which is England.

Incidentally, did you know that the words of, "Rule Britannia", were written
by a Scottish Poet?
It would also help if you punctuated the verses of the song claim as your
own properly.

Err! But England's colours are only red and white.
Of the European nations it is France, Czech Republic, Croatia, Iceland,
Luxemborg, Netherlands, Norway, Russia, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, and
Yogoslavia that are the countries who have the coloures red, white and blue.
While Scotland is blue and white, England is red and white and Northern
Ireland colours are also red and white.

But the red, white and blue is the colours of the Unitied Kingdom and that
is actually four countries.

Yes but England's St George's cross is only one part of that Union flag. It
also contains the flags of Scotland and Ireland.
By the way the Union jack is just a smaller version of the full Union Flag
that gets flown at a ships Jack staff.
You do know what a jack staff is don't you?
Anyway, just carry on singing, "Your Song", (Whoever, "your", refers to),
for it will not change the song but it will demonstrate to anyone who hears,
"You", singing it that, "you", are a group of uneducated numpties.
By the way - I'm proud to be British and I am also proud to be Scottish. Why
are you so reluctant to be proud of being British and English that you
attempt to hide your English roots by ignoring your English, red and white
St George's cross flag?

Err! No. As I pointed out to you the Union flag is all the countries of the
UK represented by that one flag.
However, we are not confused as to what the Scottish and English parts of
that flag are.
From the words of the song you have quoted you, very much, are confused.

That crap could only come from a jerk off so insecure over it's
identity that it has taken up pedantry as a hobby.

Get over yourself fruity!

Who wrote it for England's identity!

In that case I hope you wont mind being told to fuck off you pedantic
scotch troll?

No offence.

England / Angelic Upstarts

The red in the flag is the blood that was spilt
In the way that your forefathers tell
And never a country has been so great
The stories Britannia could tell

I never want to live my life
Away from the golden shores
There's never a country in the world
With the scent of an English rose

England oh England a country so great
A land that's so fair and so true
There'll never be any colours like
The red the white and the blue

Whenever you go to a far off land
There's something goes with you
The pride and the joy and the love that comes
For your mother of red white and blue

You could never be born under a flag that's like
The one of the Union Jack
St.Georges spirit has never died
It all keeps coming back
