A Very Large Pulpmill For A Very Small Island
Gunns have no way of competing with cheap Brazilian woodpulp on the world
market that comes in at 1/4 of the cost Gunns can produce it for. That's
why they have to effectively 'steal' the trees from every Australian and
to get every single subsidy their measly party donations ($63,000 to the
Tasmanian Liberals last year) can buy. They've got a 100% tax write-off
going under MIS-forestry and the Tasmanian taxpayer is funding the
trucking of logs from the West Coast to Scottsdale in the East for them.
Its theft on a grand and unheard of scale and it must end.
