That is a very good way to shock people into action. I think humans are inured
to words on pages now, and even television cannot capture the physical impact of
destruction.

Taking people by the busload to see forest devastation WILL work.

I remember about twenty years ago I went back to a beautiful mountain -top area
near Tabulam NSW called Ewengar where I had once panned for gold with kids for
fun in pristine streams. The place was a pure arcadia of rain forest. I
have photos of it as it was.

As I started to get near to where I thought I should be I became alienated and
thought I'd taken the wrong road. Some firm, or the Forestry department, had
clearfelled the whole area.

I never got over the searing shock of that destruction. It never leaves you
once you experience the loss of something you hold dear.

Never has in the past, why would it do so now?

The simple fact is that people get to vote on one issue every four years, I
doubt they will choose this one to vote on.
In the mean time politicians get to do whatever they want. After all there
is bi-partisan support for giving away our native forests at less than
replacement cost! Has a lot to do with how much money is given to both
parties for their campaign funds. Until people actually vote against
corruption, nothing can possibly change.
