Yes.  Water is essential to life, along with CO2.  Sodium is essential
to the human nervous system. But too much water in the wrong place
will kill people, and getting too much sodium in your diet can bring
on hypertension and heart disease.

With CO2 as well as many other naturally occurring substances in the
environment, what we need to see happen is the "Goldilocks
solution."

Not too hot, not too cold; not too hard, not too soft; not too big or
too small - but "just right."
