One of the PR miracles of our time is the way Gunns have disguised land
clearing to below the roots as 'forestry'. Nothing could be further from
the truth. What they do is remove an area of bush in its entirety and cart
it to a wood-chipper. It's really 'above ground tree mining' or even 'wood
quarrying'. Their PR spin doctors have carefully nurtured an image of
'forest communities' to cover an industry running mostly for the benefit
of offshore investors and almost totally funded by taxpayers. It has to be
the scam of the millenium. It uses an entire transport system of diesel
trucks all making one way trips to the 'chipper'. There are no return
journeys making it the most inefficient transport system anywhere outside
of mining. It is massively subsidised at the state and federal level with
many crooked politicians in on the scam. What it is doing to the worlds
weather is an absolute act of insanity. A mature forest loses huge amounts
of water to evaporation. As soon as the Gunns dozers move in this is
instantly lost. It is never, ever replaced because Gunns swap a forest for
a CROP. These tree 'crops' never grow to maturity because the soils are so
depleted and the rainfall is constantly declining. Thats why plantation
timber is ALWAYS much smaller in size than native forest. It is an
ecological race to the bottom of catastrophe. It is undoubtably a truth
that wood chipping is first degree ecological homicide. That our
government is now paying billions in drought relief after funding the
cause of drought, is the biggest secret that rural Australia has to give
up. Well at least YOU are now informed.

across the top of the data leaving equal portions of the data above and
below.  In this instane 10 dots above, and 14 below as a result of the crude
nature of ascii graphics.  Nevertheless it represents the best line that can
be fitted to the data based on minimizing the square of the distance between
the line and the real data.  It's called a least squares curve fit.
