Agency's own umbrella
Part of a telephone conversation when applying for a 6 month contract
role:

Agent: "Do you have an umbrella company?"

Me: "No, limited company."

Agent: "Oh, really? So you are PAYE?"

Me: "Errm, that's tricky, depends on the contract, IR35 and all that.
Part salary, part dividends. Usual contractor stuff."

Agent: "Thought so. We have the answer for that. When you sign the
contract we'll give you details of how to transfer to our scheme so we
can pay you direct. It's much better for you."

Me: "It's OK, I have my own limited company and ..."

Agent: "Don't worry, you don't need that any more. With the new tax
rules just come out, you'll be much better off through us. As I say,
we'll sort that out once you've started the job."

<click> <brrrrrr>

Damn. I 'dropped' the telephone.

Presumably people fall for this stuff. Should agencies be stamped
with a government health warning?

(Pay As You Earn? I prefer my current Pay At Last Minute scheme.)
