BoS and The Halifax
I've got my biz. account with the Bank of Scotland, and recently
had to pay my Corporation tax. So I was quite pleased that in
Beaconsfield (nearest town with a Sainsburys) the branch of the Halifax
had a large blue banner over the front door, proclaiming
"Bank of Scotland" and under that, the words "business banking".

Great, thought I. I can pop in there with a company cheque and pay
the CT over the counter. Gave it a try and the cashier told me that
they couldn't accept the cheque as they weren't a Giro bank. When
I asked about the BoS sign, I was met with the type of vacant
stare, that experience has told me not to try to engage the wearer
in further conversation.

Don't you love the joined-up thinking behind the people who look
after our money!

Pete
