In the Half Moon (Stepney/Mile End) standard price is £1-79.

Don't know what the offer is now, used to be 99p for eg. Ruddles.

This afternoon I've had quite a few Pheonix "Wobbly Bob" (6.0abv) for £1.59
a pint, ignoring the Abbot at £1.79.
Summat to be said for living in Bowton.

Anyone know the usual prices at the Spoons in Bridgend. I've booked a couple
of nights there in June for the Rugby League match.

Re: April spoonfest
I got a pint for 50p on Monday in a crap 'Spoons, but it was only option
before bus home.

Usual army of staff rushing about and being very busy, except serving
customers. About to give up when the one barmaid serving got to me.

Despite pump clip and price crown, £1.89, my choice wasn't on. Nor was my
second choice. I was then pointed to a distant hand pump and told that's on,
suggesting all those pumps sporting clips along the bar were not. The
marketing attitude was any old beer will do, it's all the same.

So with only minutes before my bus, I grabbed a pint of the distant beer,
checking it wasn't Greede King (it wasn't). I was asked for a £1, but I had
my CAMRA 50p off voucher and 'double' discounts are not within the terms of
the voucher. I pointed out I hadn't wanted a £1 beer but was directed to
that as only option. So they agreed to my 50p pint.

Wish they hadn't. Quality was shit.

Re: April spoonfest
I remember when Spooooon's used to sell an evil little concoction
called Scotch Bitter for 79 or 89p a pint, depending on where you
were. My friend Finton Ryan and I went down to our local with £8 to
our name, intending to have 5 pints each.
But the pub was closing for 2 weeks to have its upstairs refurbished,
and the pub had been given a fatwa to run down all perishable stock to
zero. So they were knocking out this Scotch Bitter for 49p a pint.
We had 8 pints each.
That must have been about 12 years ago.

The most expensive Spoons that I've been in was outside the millenium
stadium in Cardiff, 2 years ago at the Rugby League weekend, A pint was £2.

One of the Central Manchester 'Spoons sells its normal Real Ales at £1.49
and has done for quite a while. At the same time the others have sold a pint
at up to £1.99. Why this difference? I've no idea.

I had a pint of it once. It was a mistake, it was just a nasty weedy
bitter taste, I should have just had water.

It's that in most spoons now - the GK RBB (was IPA) is now £1.29; up 30%
on the previous price of 99p!

My nearly-local spoon dropped the price about 10 days after the festival
ended to £1.29.
They've now put it back to their "normal" price of £1.99. Lots of
leftovers there, it seems.
