Celebrity brewer Neil 'Bob the Builder' Morrissey's comments to Mike
Brenner (CAMRA's chief executive)
"Why, when I am going to meet a man so high up in CAMRA, do I expect
him to come Morris dancing into the room with hardly any teeth and a
big beard, playing the hurdy-gurdy?"
It is actually pretty funny.
What is a hurdy-gurdy?

A nice video clearly showing a hurdy-gurdy being played can be found at

a T...

I used to go to a great weekly folk/blues session at a club in
Canterbury (c.1992-5) & most weeks a local hurdy-gurdy player would
get up & do a solo spot (he also regularly busked in town. He was/is
an amazing player.
Happily the club also sold cask beer, but I had to leave, as I'd
noticed that hair had begun to grow on my toes & I linked it to the
folk/ale combination - I've since learnt it's known as Hobbito
Syndrome. Now I listen to Smooth FM & drinker white wine spritzers &
everything's right with the world.
