Wetherspoons
Did five Spoons in Sheffield yesterday didn't see anybody drinking the IPA.

Though in Sheffield even the great unwashed seem to have some taste.

Maybe its the choice.

All Spoons had their usual full range on.

Most normals seemed to be on the San Miguel!

I have to agree. I very rarely saw people drinking IPA before or after the
price drop in the 'spoons I visit in Gtr Mcr area but, San Miguel is a lot
more "in view" these days.

Why? Is the pub situation in Sheffield really that bad?

Re: Wetherspoons
Well I had to pass 3 on my way to the Devonshire Cat.

The Swim on the way to the Bath. and it was only 2 stops on the tram on my way to the Hillsborough.

Two ticks in Benjamin Huntsman and in and out the other four.

Don't usually drink if Spoons unless its something new or interesting.

Usually have a drink in normal pubs.

Which Mecca though? I don't think the islamic world is big on dancing
and gambling either, yet we have ballrooms and bingo halls called
Mecca.

So what is a helpful answer? Not having been there, I would guess it is
"catch the next plane out of Saudi Arabia for the UAE", but don't know?

Re: Wetherspoons
Lots of excellent pubs in Sheffield along the road towards Hillsborough

The Wellington (ex Cask and Cutler) , Fat Cat, Kelham Island Tavern, New
Barrack Tavern and Hillsborough Hotel.

If you get a train ticket to Sheffield the £3 bus plus add on includes the
Supertram or you can get a day ticket off the conductor.

You criticised a place that I thought was really good for decent beer
- so I asked where you would recommend. A genuine question that
didn't deserve either of your replies.

I would seriously like to know - I like to have weekends away for
pubs and beer and would be interested in knowing where was worth
going.

You misunderstood - he wasn't critising Sheffied as a drinking place; he was
just jokingly(?) suggesting that comparing a good drinking place to Mecca as
it's a famous Islamic city and therefore non-drinking wasn't such a good
idea!
