Yep, they will be serving bottled Bud, Fosters etc.

Can you see any restaurant stocking, say, six casks of real ale to offer
the discerning dinner a choice to match what they are eating? People
don't normally go to restaurants to drink beer and if the turn-over of
cask ale is insufficient it will only be fit for pouring over the fish
and chips after a few days.

One reason I avoid poncy restaurants and go to a good pub for grub.

No, but I can see them offering good bottle-conditioned beers.

Rupert Ponsonby (what an appropriate name) said

"Goldings [hops] are the unoaked Chardonnays of Chablis, Fuggles are
the earthy Syrah of the Rhône, the apricot-scented First Gold hops are
the Viognier whites of the Rhône, and Cascade the Sauvignon Blancs of
New Zealand,"

Almost worthy of Pseud's Corner in Private Eye. Is this really what
beer is coming to?

I have never used an expletive online before, but I have to say this
is utter and total bollocks and not at all what beer should be about.

Sort of related - we went to the Manoir Quat Saison recently - and they
strongly recommended a fruit beer to accompany the dessert course,
rather than a dessert wine - I was pleasantly surprised.

Introduce someone to a quality bottled real ale in an up-market
restaurant and the next time they are in a Greene King tied house they
are sure to get the same thing when they ask for it.
