Keighley and Worth Valley Beer and Music Festival
Modesty seems to prevent members of this railway from blowing their
own trumpet, but can I draw your attention to the forthcoming Beer and
Music Festival at the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway next weekend
(23/24/25/26th Oct)?

120 beers http://www.kwvr.co.uk/events/documents/BeerList2008.pdf
cask ciders and bottled beers look pretty good.

The entertainment, especially on Saturday night
http://www.doctorbusker.com/welcome.php looks eminently suitable.

Frequent trains from Leeds and Bradford (and Skipton for that matter).
Buses to and from Hebden Bridge (free in the evening) may be of use to
my Mancunian friends.

Details of trains buses etc etc at:
http://www.kwvr.co.uk/events/index.htm

As I think I've said before, this festival, along with Peterborough,
Cambridge and Liverpool, rank as on of my 'must do at all costs' beer
fests.

And it's a great little railway, and all. Sometime watch
the Last of the Summer Wine episode entitled Full
Steam Behind, which features the K&WVRR and a Silver
Band as well.

OBTW - seems like one of the folks who man the beer
car on that railroad sometimes contributes here.
Can't remember his name.

Well, Paul Rigg contributes to a number of newsgroups, and he's the
festival organiser. Wouldn't be surprised to hear he's worked the
buffet cars, too.

I'm working at the festival, probably Friday and Saturday evenings
(subject to confirmation of rosters). Come over and say hello if
you're there.

Geez, I'd love to, but ... won't be back across the pond till
Spring. Will be in Holmfirth, Oxenhope, and Haworth then, and
we will take the train to Keighley as well. Lookin' forward
to some fine ales.

Also try the NYMR, and pop into the New Inn at Cropton near Pickering.

Re: Keighley and Worth Valley Beer and Music Festival
Yes well last time I worked the buffet car was during the steam gala about
10 days ago..

Shall be about mainly at Oxenhope if anyone wants to say hello.

For Beer lists, train time, bus times etc. see www.kwvr.co.uk and click on
the appropriate links.

There will be also be the Old Spot Brewery Bar on platform 4 (I think) at
Keighley Station

Perhaps I should point out that it is possible to buy a through ticket to
the railway from any station in the UK. It costs £9 more approximately
than a ticket to Keighley. It is NOT available via the Hebden Bridge bus.

The through ticket is treated as a day rover on the KWVR and therefore
includes unlimited travel on the day and also entry to the beer festival.

Railcard discounts are available - though Northern don't seem to be able to
" add " it to tickets issued for 35p/70p to West Yorkshire PTE concessionary
permit holders.
