It doesn't sum it up at all, June. Graham may be right, but this blind
faith that most of us have in practitioners of allopathic medicine is
often badly misplaced, particularly given the fact that most of them
operate in an environment the dynamics of which are dictated by the
big pharmaceutical companies and the push for profit.

And I have to say that in the past ten years, I've heard more sense
from naturopaths, acupuncturists and other such practitioners of
'alternative' medicine than I have from my own GP or, indeed, from
specialists that I've seen. I have lost count of the number of friends
and family who have been misdiagnosed - sometimes horrendously so -
by 'mainstream' GPs and specialists. That doesn't mean I've completely
lost faith with allopathic medicine, but I don't embrace it blindly
any more, and I won't place my trust in mainstream medical care
without considering all of the angles and perspectives with extreme
care. Allopathic practitioners do not treat the patient: they treat
the symptoms, and most of the time it's not a 'one size fits all'
solution that is called for.

With regard to the swine flu epidemic, whether it is engineered or
'real', the fact remains that the vaccine has been rushed through,
with little or no thought for longterm consequences. Those who are not
in high risk categories should think really long and hard before
succumbing to what will inevitably be tremendous institutional
pressure to get vaccinated. In my opinion, they would be better off
taking large daily doses of Vitamin D - the one thing which most of us
at certain latitudes lack, and the absence of which is always
conducive to the development of colds and flu in the winter months.
