Ping Greg and others who may live near Cambridge
I replied on urg, gardening group to this lady who wishes to visit
garden in Suffolk and Cambridge. She says that they can't afford to
stay in hotels, can anyone give information on gardens in those areas
to visit and cheaper accommodation, hostels etc. Here is my reply to
her:

Marta, it depends when you are coming but Universities usually let
their student accommodation out of term time. If you are visiting
Norwich, try the University of East Anglia, telephone, from abroad
0044 (0)1603 456161. I'm pretty sure other Universities have the same
thing. Cambridge is about 40 minutes on the train from Norwich. I'm
going to post this in another group as a poster lives in Cambridge and
he may well be able to help you.

You should try cam.misc. Not every newserver carries it as it is not in
the uk hierarchy, but it is very active. It was on googlegroups last
time I looked.

To be honest, I have no idea about hotels/B&bs over here: all the people
I know stay in private houses (as in friends and family) or slum it at
one of the colleges.

Staying somewhere else and visiting for a day isn't a bad idea, this
city can be stupidly expensive.

Good idea, they're usually quite helpful.
