The hairy bikers   
Just where did they come from? I have never heard of them before they 
got on TV.

Just watched them on BBC2 and I am quite impressed by their knowledge of 
cooking.

I think their cooking isn't as good as it used to be, but the entertainment is
still there. The biker with the spectacles does all the work. Why have the BBC
put it on so early?
I was impressed with the simplicity of recipe and the resulting Norfolk
Dumplings. They looked just like semel knoedel.

ISTR that when Floyd visited Norfolk, a lady cooked him what she considered 
to be a real Norfolk Dumpling.  It was a suet pudding containing bacon!  Not 
what I'd call a ND or even a Suffolk Dumpling.

It seems to be the absence of suet that makes it a Norfolk Dumpling

Strange!  I have a book of Norfolk and one of Suffolk recipes and both 
feature 2 dumpling recipes, one made with suet and the other a yeast-based 
recipe, presumably using leftover dough on bread-making days.
The only difference between the N & S suet recipes is in the proportion of 
suet.
Mum, from Suffolk, always used suet in hers.

A Mary Norwak recipe for Norfolk Dumplings is also yeasted and without suet.
