Alan finds it difficult to distinguish between trolls and real posters
unless he knows them, Tim. Enzo just got in the firing line.

Didn't give him much chance to dodge, either. I wish he'd quietly plonk,
instead of replying to the plonkee though. Bringing back people I had
quite happily forgotten about. Just for that he's on my watch-list. And if
you mention it he'll plonk you.

Good grief, Alan would never do that, believe me. I have never

That's not food, it is a PR attempt. You don't get international news
coverage for a perdectly grilled Tbone steak, you know.

to be honest, a perfectly grilled steak bores me to death and people
returning from US holidays often go on about steak in either positve or
negative ways depending on thier view of steak as the ultimate meal.

I was given a propane BBQ last week and spent ~$100 renovating it (new
burner and deflector). I tried it out on Friday with a rib steak. I used
my usual method of testing for "doneness" i.e., prodding it for the amount
of "give" and it was still at the soft, rare stage but turned out to be
well-done. I'm sure that the farmers here would say: "What did you expect?
It was Alberta beef!"
Trying cutthroat trout tomorrow, sealed in foil with lots of tarragon, which
I have in abundance.

farmers probably say that in half the world! What I find boring about
steak, or rather others do and tell me about it is its predictability on
predictible menus, other people meanwhile rave about having tender steak
every day which I suspect is also tasteless steak. I prefer a menu with
something different or interesting on it. (As long as its not "bacon
coffee"). Reports back from non big city US seem to be of repetitive,
rushed, early dining unless you go for rather self concious frenchified
upmarket places, but its academic now unless they start making cars that
float :-) Bay of Biscay here we come!

dunno, how much better would perfect be than just normally competant? Its
still just a steak pretty much like all the others. Perfect belly of pork
though.........

As do I! However, I do enjoy a nice juicy steak FTTT. I've just bought a
couple of packs of bacon-wrapped fillets, 6oz each (~2 quid)which is more
than enough for a healthy meal.
Went to a bbq last night and the host cooked a vast amount of meat. Most
cut a piece off rather than taking the whole steak. Then there were the
pork chops, sausages and a rack of lamb. (There was a salad there too!)

Bacon flavoured donuts don't sound too bad, actually, a sort of doughy
version of Frazzles, although if they're American they're probably too
sweet.
