Elderflower cordial
I made 4 pints of elderflower cordial to be diluted. I froze it all in
ice cube bags because each cube gives one dilution just nicely. I
handed it over to the tea room before we went to Tresco for 5 days.
When we came back I asked how it was going. "Gone" was the reply - in
5 days the whole lot had been used up. Next year I'll be raiding
hedgerows far and wide! And I won't be bothering with the fiddle of
the ice cube bags. What's more, I hadn't saved a drop for ourselves,
thinking I could always get some from the tea room. ;-)

Aww what a shame. Never mind, a lesson has been learned:)
Perhaps you ought to go into major production:)

Or a quick trip to Umbria, where my garden is walled in by them if I don't
cut them back.

Don't tempt me! Do you make the cordial yourself, Giusi? I just
can't get over how popular it is here, especially in hot weather but
nothing could be easier to make. I'm now tracking down a commercially
produced one for the rest of the summer but avoiding those that contain
sulphides. Looks like Duchy Originals Organic cordial is the probably
answer.

No, I always mean well, but keeping up with the Italian things seems to be
all I can handle. Remember the elderberry vinegar from last summer? I
served it as a sauce/condiment with some veg appetisers this week and it was
a huge hit. That's very British going well with very Italian.

I remember it now you mention it. ;-) I'll try to remember it again
in the autumn! Do Italians go in for elderflower drinks? I don't
remember seeing it there or being given it at my ex's aunt's house.
But again, it's one of those things that seems to have come (back) into
fashion in this country over the last twenty years or so and is now
found almost everywhere.

I don't think so. Everything here seems to be before or after dinner drinks
made with 195 proof alcohol.

Thanks, Elaine. I'll look at that one and the Duchy one. Then it will
be a question of where to get them from!
