Ketchup+mayo+lots of pepper. Or salt and malt vinegar, but only with good
thick cut (preferably freshly made) fries.

All depends what I eat them with. I very rarely have the pleasure of chips
nowadays but here is how I used to like them:
Chips alone = salt & vinegar + sometimes ketchup too.
Chip butty = ketchup
Fish and chips = salt & vinegar + pickled onion or gherkin
Pie and chips = Brown sauce + salt & vinegar
Steak and chips = salt only
Never had them with mayo since I stopped visiting the continent. I used to
enjoy them there but they never seemed the same at home with mayo.

Chips, salt & vinegar and tomato ketchup on a muffin.

I love malt vinegar but it ruins the crunchiness of the fries.
My recent solution: Mix 2-3 parts ketchup with 1 part malt vinegar.
Now why didn't I think of that 30 years ago?

A beauty of an oven bottom muffin, someone was on about them the other day

I've only ever had Tescos and they won't be as good as the one shown.

Ketchup and salt if they're fresh cut and double fried.
Otherwise: cocktail sauce or tartar sauce if it's on the table or with
fried seafood.
Except for ersatz fish and chips like Long John Silver's then it's
malt vinegar too.

I always associate fries with fast food chains and they are about 5 to 6
mm thick. My local serves what he calls chunky chips that might be as
thick as 25 mm.

I was in Newquay, Cornwall recently (not through choice) and one cafe
displayed on a chalkboard on the kerbline; Today's 'special', Curry
Sauce and Chips!
Just further down the road, Cornwall's premier Mexican restaurant
advertised burger and chips on their menu.
It was worth paying the compulsory £5 towards Airport Development Fund
to depart.

Yes, we're aware of that. We have this thing called global awareness. As I
see in the news lately, there are even several other languages spoken on the

I sometimes do something really disgusting with chips - I eat them on a

I would think most people in the US would know that. On one trip to London
we had a driver who explained some of the differences and we knew them for
the most part... chips, fag, biscuits, etc. One thing that surprised us
though was that we were told NOT to use the common US term "Drug Store" when
in the UK you should use the term chemist or pharmacy because otherwise they
would think you meant something entirely different (and illegal?).

I associate rotten fries with fast food joints. Good chips most often come
from a truck, the type that sets up on a street or park and sells nothign but
chips, really good chips.

This is like a flashback to "The Newlywed Game". I expect a zinger post

You (and we) call a large paper tissue a napkin too, yes?
No, we know what a napkin is in the UK, I call 'em a napkins too. A
serviette is a cloth napkin for use at a table, IMHO.
And a diaper is a nappy in the UK.
However, we do call the trunk a boot...

Well, in this part of the UK we call diapers nappies.
Does *anywhere* in the UK call a diaper (nappy) a napkin?

At any rate, get off my dick, bitch.
You're a hyper retarded mother fucker if you can't accept the fact that
English and American are two separate and distinct languages.
You seem to think you have some elevated status here due to the fact that
you're a prick.

I used to supervise a woman who was a granny at the grand old age of 30.

Not quite. Put napkin into google and wikipedia are saying that they are

Depends....if they are fnatastically good fries, then they need nothing but
a light sprinkle of salt. Sometimes I like them with ketchup, and when I'm
feeling indulgent, sour cream. Mind you, I eat french fries about twice a
year LOL...they just are not good for me, as a diabetic.
My husband and daughter both like malt vinegar, and hubby also likes Cajun
Chef (hot sauce) on his.

Terranews isn't free. It's a $4 setup fee:
"Due to the overwhelming response to our free account offer and
the costs associated with verifying credit card information we
have begun charging a one time setup fee of $3.95."
Color me cornfused. Why do they need to verify credit card
information if it's a "free" account? Sounds like a Catch-22.
They might as well advertise "Free Porn(*)".
Also - they put annoying tag-lines on all (most?) of your posts,
advertising their "free" Usenet access.

Annoying to whom? I paid $3.95 seven years ago, and have used Teranews ever
since with some regularity. It's the most I've ever paid for Usenet.

My lunchtime drinking companion also also has type 2 diabetic and he was
telling me about his sausage sarni that he had after his round of golf
this morning. He regularly orders a half portion of chips as a snack
along with his 2 pints. I can't weigh up how he gets on with diabetis.

My BIL is also type 2 diabetic. He and my SIL visited us a few years ago.
Shortly before their scheduled arrival and before I went to the grocery
store I asked him about his diet. He informed me (rather abruptly) that he
ate what he'd always eaten and why did I ask. I was trying to be
considerate, but apparently I insulted him.
