"Theft"
The folks on AFwine are concerned that their tasting-note posts are being
filched and appearing in other forums under different names. I checked one
of them (**) and saw familiar names in the food section, including Ophelia
et al.
Here they be:
 www.mombu.com
www.a1foodforum.com **

Just thought you ought to know.

I don't think they are cross-posted. I think the website must be using a
"bot" to extract stuff from usenet.

What you're describing, is the reason many of us use x-no-archive.

The usual source raided by post-lifters, is google's archive. The usual
reason is financial ("populating" a ghost website so they can sell
advertising banner space; or selling material to magazines).

I just looked at the second website you quoted and my software gave a

The automated facility I have only comes with certain newsreaders, but
for those without, there's nothing to stop people typing it in by hand.

Hardly theft!

You posted your messages to the public domain so they can be used as
seen fit.

And x-no-archive is only used by people to cover their tracks.

AFAIK, at the top of your post. Try it and see if it works ( if it
does, google's archive will attach a message to your post saying it will
appear for 7 days then be deleted).

norton didnt say anything. I think they are just trying to get forums off
the ground by populating them with stolen usenet posts.

i think you find these are web based forums and a bot is copying our posts
across to them, either from here or rec.food.cooking
