Website suggestion on what dish to have
www.jpgimage.co.uk/full.php?image=1091
A website i'm doing lists about 35-40 local takeaways and restaurants
that provides a home delivery service .
While talking to one of the regulars on the website forum - he said he
didnt always know what he wanted to eat - and wanted the website to make
suggestions on what to have .
The above screenshot shows the chinese sub menu [1] and a list of
suggestions that are displayed underneath .
Just curious if any of you lot have any problem in deciding what to have
or if you would find this sort of (dish suggestion) thingy useful .
[1] i havent done the indian section yet or i would have used that for
the screenshot

maybe knowing what *not* to have is more important when it comes to
take aways?

I think the problem is regional variations - most of the Indian
restaurants/takeaways around here include potato in a vindaloo, in
many other areas they don't.
Another problem is the degree of "hotness" - that which rural N. Wales
regards as "very hot" could well be "medium" in Bradford.
I've eaten in Indian restaurants from the north of Scotland to the
southwest/southeast of England and found a great difference in
description of the dishes on offer, I assume takeaways would be the
same.
An indication of vegetarian main courses could be a good idea.

Arnold, north of Nottingham, I had a very nice series of dishes from a
local takeaway where the vindaloo was a mild potato curry (Rollaston
Drive?)
very nice indeed ...
Here it's brutal (I rarely try anything hotter than "Madras" locally)
and most of the restaurants are Bengali / Bangladeshi run ... not really
"Indian" at all ... the dishes some serve that they say *are* Bengali
are nice ... and those that are that honest ... well, their *other* food
seems a "cut above", too
In a local shop, on the counter, where you would find lollipops in some
shops ... chilis ... (look like Scotch Bonnets)!!
A Bengali co-worker used to have raw chili with her chips ... her home
cooking was lovely stuff; nowhere near so spicy as that would suggest
