bombay duck
. . . or should that be Mumbai duck these days?

Anyone know of a restaurant that sells BD? I appreciate you can buy them
to cook yourself, but was wondering if there were any restaurants where
you could order them.

Haven't seen any for ages, our local used to serve it but stopped some
time ago - there was a ban or something for a time IIRC.

BD was banned by European decree a long time back, the ban lifted after
a few years, sadly the restaurants never seemed to start selling them
again, a great pity.

Interesting! Do you know why it was banned: hygenic reasons
perhaps?

It was something to do with them being sundried in the open air, don't
recall exactly, and thus being liable infection, it seems to have been
bollocks though as they're legal again but, sadly, the restaurants took
the opportunity to stop cooking them.

And very good they are too...

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe.
Barbeques on fire by the chalets past the castle headland
I watched the gift shops glitter in the darkness off the Newborough gate
All these moments will be lost in time, like icecream on the beach
Time for tea.

OK, thanks, if I ever get to Mumbai I'll remember the recommendation.

Now, anyone know of a UK restaurant that serves them?

Just done a bit of googling myself and found this place:
<http://www.readingrestaurants.com/antico_restaurant/> which sells this:
"Half Crispy Boneless Bombay Duck in Honey Sauce"

A flavour combination I just can't imagine working. Anyone tried it?

Yes, that would make much more sense, and I'm sure work better.

That had me puzzled too, I thought maybe it was a minimalist concept and

Yes, that would make much more sense, and I'm sure work better.

That had me puzzled too, I thought maybe it was a minimalist concept and
