The Ministry of Defence is facing a substantially bigger compensation bill
for wounded servicemen after a ruling by three Appeal Court judges today.
The judges said that awards for wounded personnel must address not just the
individual injuries suffered in the line of duty but the impact on their
lives in the long term.

Seems reasonable to me; a fair part of Britain's covenant with its armed
forces members. It's not IMO moral to have someone's life ruined by what may
originate from a small injury and only consider oneself liable for that
small injury; if responsible for the injury one is responsible for all that
naturally derives from it. That's 'natural justice'.
Force members are prepared to pay the 'total cost' in putting their lives on
the line, it should be reciprocal that the MoD be prepared to foot the
'total cost' bill when injury and death occurs in the line of duty. The MoD
are now likely to have to pay the price of not being prepared to have done
so already.
