Given that

And
>61 percent of Americans support the U.S. taking military action to stop Iran
I would say Iran has can see a clear and present danger from the US, a
country that has recently illegally invaded two countries and has
continually threatened Iran for the last 20 years, it is fully entitled
to protect itself by any means it likes including nuclear.
It shows yet again that 60% of the US is frightened of it's own shadow
and paranoid. It's pathetic.

I'd say that 60% of the US public are misinformed, thanks to the US
mainstream media that are in cahoots with, and financed by, the Washington
establishment.

Quite possibly. In the rush to have Saddam demonised as a precursor to an
invasion of Iraq there became widespread belief in America that Saddam was
involved in the preparation and/or execution of 9-11. While this may have
served the Administration well at the beginning, even GWB had to explicitly
and publicly state Saddam was not in the preparation or execution of 9-11.
That didn't stop some Americans believing otherwise, and I'm sure a
significant number believe it still. Just as some Americans believe the US
did find wholsesale, active and ready to be used, WMD in Iraq.
It seems human nature for some people to believe what they want to believe,
or what they are told to believe, rather than what the facts or evidence
suggests. There are others who are happy to encourage such beliefs for their
own agenda purposes.

Fine assessment coming from the UK, where state thought control & speech
regulation have been in full force for years - And are only showing
signs of getting yet more intrusive.

Interestingly we have a free press (with more independent national news
papers than the US) and a completely free TV broadcast The BCC is
neither commercial nor state controlled. In fact the BBC and the
government have gone to court over things and the BBC usually wins over
the government.
I have yet to find anyone who travels between the US and Europe who says
the US news and media is better than the UK or Europe.
