U.S. imperialism caused terrorism. An american point of view
A clever reflexion on american policy . It would be better for America to solve the
numerous problems it has inside its borders especially the problem of its health policy
instead wasting american lives and money outside its borders.
" The U.S. has been in Afghanistan for eight straight years now and we have been in Iraq
now going on six years. I personally believe that it is time for the U.S. to leave both
Iraq and Afghanistan and not spend another day there.
The U.S. has no business being in either Iraq or Afghanistan and I support neither war.
These wars have not stopped terrorism. You cannot win a war on terrorism because terrorism
is a tactic and you cannot wage a war on a tactic.
U.S. imperialism has caused terrorism to proliferate. One of the root causes of terrorism
is that the U.S. *has intervend in almost every country* around the world.
The U.S. has tried to overthrow popular democratic governments in Cuba, Venezuela, Libya,
Zimbabwe, Nicaragua and elsewhere.
People don't like it when the U.S. interferes in the internal affairs of their nations.
Resistance to U.S. imperialism, colonialism, aggression and occupation overseas is not
terrorism.
If the U.S. would leave Iraq and Afghanistan immediately and unconditionally, the attacks
against U.S. troops would end and they would have no reason to come to the United States
to attack us.
The U.S. does not need military bases in every country around the world and would be
better off by closing them down and withdrawing all troops.
Iraq was never a threat to us, Afghanistan was never a threat to us.
I also believe that we should listen to our adversaries and talk with them and work with
them instead of against them. By using diplomacy, we can get most of the problems around
the world resolved peacefully and we would make more friends than enemies.

Too simple and obvious. Americans need to try everything else first.

Though the distraction of war, a unity created by jingoism, nationalism and
other cohesive forces, can help put aside internal problems as society is
pulled together against a perceived common enemy. The bigger the enemy is
perceived to be, the greater the distraction which can be achieved.
Such a thing doesn't work well though with dissent in the ranks, and it
seems the majority of Americans consider their ventures to now be flawed or
going no where fast, with a high price that is not worth paying.
Worse still, that then creates a double-whammy of problems; internal and
external. The stuff of nightmares and what can bring down governments. Obama
is lucky that he inherited both problems and can largely put up his hands
and say not his fault. Americans are however looking for solutions to both
problems. Solving either one will help. Cutting Iraq, Afghanistan and
Pakistan loose and bringing the troops home is an easy option but lays the
door open for accusations of cowardice, defeatism and American failure, and
Middle Eastern claims of victory against defeated imperialistic forces. The
spectre of that haunts the American psyche on both sides of the political
divide, so Obama is stuck between a rock and a hard place.
