Russia and South Ossetia has its propagandists and emotive wankers as
Georgia and the west does, both equally exaggerating their claims to paint
the other side in a worse light. While they talk of areas wiped from the
face of the earth Georgia and the west also claims the sky is falling,
Soviet-era expansionism and annexation is in full swing, the whole world
stands at risk of annihilation from Russia; the Cold War's back, lock and
load.
There's been accusation of genocide and atrocity from both sides and there's
probably some degree of truth to such claims but a whole lot of it appears
to have been exaggerated for propaganda and political purpose.
The first thing which happens in any war is each side starts lying about the
other and demonising their respective enemies, and it's no different here.
In these days of pre-emptive wars, the lying often starts well before the
war does. Any excuse as a pretext will do and there's nothing new there.
At least this time round America hasn't produced a pretend nurse to stand up
and lie about seeing, with her own eyes, the bad guys bayoneting babies in
incubators which dragged the world into a war on the back of such lies. Nor
contemptuously stood in the UN, Guernica covered, claiming wholly imaginary
WMD and hard, credible, indisputable, corroborated evidence that was no such
thing.
Keeping up a long held tradition of the bad guys are always wrong, the good
guys are always right, the west excuses its propaganda - claims it to be the
truth - while dismissing that from Russia as lies, Russia undoubtedly does
likewise.
At least some things don't change.

As it says
The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has declared readiness of
Teheran to assist in restoration of the peace in South Ossetia. The
Iranian management names actions of Georgia as a murder of defenceless
people
Now Europe is not interested in stopping Russia policing the area
especially as the (US and Israeli trained and armed) Georgians started
by shelling civilians
so the US is out on a limb threatening Iran and Russia, Pakistan has now
stopped being an ally of the US.
China is getting to the point where it is going to stop
funding/supporting the US
GWB has 2 months left.

Well .. the Russians would say that wouldn't they? Maybe the Georgians
wiped out 8 civilian inhabited areas, and maybe they were shooting civilians
as they tried to fee ..... and maybe they weren't.
Maybe they were trying to counter "seperatist" elements (I always did prefer
the Soviet era word "dissident" LOL).
Maybe it was a bit of both.
Certainly many Georgians are paying the price for their government starting
this war ... and the Russians have made it clear that they're going to
finish it on their terms.
What we haven't seen (or at least I haven't) is any independent objective
report of what did actually happen when the Georgian forces moved in and
kicked off this war.
At least the Georgian government knows not to mess with Russian interests
ever again.
I'm wondering how long before the Georgian President "accidentally poisons
himself" with radioactive polonium or something!
