Karadzic; the thot plickens

BELGRADE (AFP) - Bosnian Serb wartime leader Radovan Karadzic was protected
by the United States until a CIA phone bug caught him breaking the terms of
his "deal", the Serb newspaper Blic reported Saturday, quoting a US
intelligence source.
The newspaper claims Karadzic was secretly granted immunity in return for
keeping a low profile.
"Karadzic, indicted for genocide and war crimes, was under US protection
until 2000, when the CIA intercepted his telephone conversation that clearly
proved he personally chaired a meeting of his old political party," the
daily quoted a "well-informed US intelligence source" as saying.

I think I'd need more to go no than that, wouldn't you?
The story I heard was that it was Serbia's interest in EU membership that
spurred his capture.

Hopefully it'll all come out in the wash. I'm sure it's going to be
interesting. I presume that unlike Saddam's trial there's no option under
ICC process for stringing him up ? Or maybe there is ?

No actually, all hippyboy needs is "a reporter claimed a newspaper claimed a
reporter said", and that's good enough for him, especially if what is
claimed says something like "America bad guy, bad guy good guy".
