A Government-funded study on schooling in Dublin 15 identifies evidence of the
phenomenon of "white flight" for the first time in the State.

The report found that in some places there is evidence of the emergence of
"ghettos" inhabited only by ethnic minorities, and it calls for action from
Government and local authorities to avert the problems found in other European
cities.

By tracking pupils' movements over a number of years, the report found "quite a
serious and significant trend of Irish moving out and immigrants moving in". Of
1,414 pupils leaving school in 2005-06, for instance, 518 left before reaching
sixth class.

"This figure is equivalent to an astonishing 58 per cent of those transferring
to postprimary schools," the authors write.
A breakdown of the data shows that, of those who left in the period 2003-07, 47
per cent were described as "Irish" and 53 per cent as "non-Irish" (defined as
those whose parents were born outside the country).

But of those who joined, only 21 per cent were categorised as "Irish" and 79 per
cent "non-Irish".

The report blames housing policies and the dynamics of the property market.
Rapid development of new private housing in this part of north Dublin has led to
a proliferation of rented homes, it points out.

I was warning about this nearly 10 years ago Gonzo... and I was roundly attacked
here on SCI (by the liberals), who apparently have no problem with paying their
taxes to support these illegal spongers...     But, just looking at France
recently and not too long ago...  We see Ireland in a few years...  And remember
the liberals will blame US for it all...  <shakes head>

The government had a choice alright...  They just choose to betray Ireland and
allow the uncontrolled influx of illegals... No medical checks, no immigration
checks, no "terrorist list" checks...   The government chose to betray all that
is Irish...  Look at England... Now it's nearly as bad as Holland... the
"British character" is no more...   Soon, thanks to liberals and socialists, the
whole of Europe will become a grey mess...

The only town in Ireland I can think of where there are literally no
Irish is Ongar and that really a new town. The Irish never really
lived there. So I do not know if the term "white flight" can be
applied in that situation.

I think most of the recent movement of traditional Dubliners out of
the city has more to do with the cost of living there more so than
being driven out by ethnic groups. I certainly never met anyone from
Dublin who left because of immigrants.

Ray I believe this type of talk is bordering on racism. The reality is
in the UK and Ireland imigrants pay more into the system than they
take out. France in noway can be compared to Ireland as France has to
deal with a legacy of north African colonisation. In can in noway be
compared with the US as it has no legacy of the slave trade. Ireland
cannot be against immigration due to its own history of immigration.
The vast majority of immigrants in Ireland work and contribute to the
Irish economy and to tar them all with one brush in that manner is
unexpected considering you are an immigrant yourself. I have yet to
hear of any so called liberal blame the US for immigration in
Ireland.

We have no outbreak of disease, there are immigration checks and as we
do not stick our noses in the running of the middle east we have not
been attacked by terrorists.

The government is playing ostrich right now... Except instead of it's head in
the sand, it's head is up it's arse on this issue...

Look at Paris...  The government in France let them in without restriction and
now they are realizing that socialist appeasement and liberal "idealism" are
