Ahern favours Oireachtas TV channel
Taoiseach Bertie Ahern has said that RTÉ should be able to transmit a dedicated
Dáil channel on television.

Mr Ahern said that he had assisted the station with a healthy package of a
licence fee for public service broadcasting and that if showing the Oireachtas
and its committees was not public service, then he would give up.

He insisted that RTÉ should be able to carry such a channel within the public
service remit.

He said compared with 'a lot of tripe that is on TV', the Oireachtas channel
would be far better and very interesting.

I looked at the poll run on the RTE website prior to posting this and these are
the current votes:

Would you find a dedicated Oireachtas Channel 'very interesting'?

Yes, the debates and motions are great 13% (80 votes)

No, I prefer the other 'tripe' on TV 44% (279 votes)

Maybe for some debates, but most of it would be boring 43% (276 votes)

I'm in the "maybe" camp...

What say you?
