Did you read the BBC report that child molesters might be findable by a test...
and suggesting anti-schizo drug as a cure for child molesting desires... Coming
next, a cure for homos... Question... if they found one... Would the queers
actually take it or are they too busy being martyrs and too used to the leftist
media attention to take the cure and become a normal person?

No-one has suggested that Paedophilia is related to Schizophrenia - and as
far as I'm aware there is no miracle cure for that either.
The idea of pre-diagnosis is fascinating: I can't help wondering if we're
heading for a "Minority Report" style world in which a Department of
Pre-Crime takes people off the streets (or medicates the potentially
perverted) with no recourse to appeal their decisions - because no crime
exists. You'd just better hope and pray they make damned sure the science is
right.

I've searched and searched for this mythical homosexual propaganda
offensive, but the 'leftist' media seems to be ignoring them. Curious
though. I thought your view was that homosexuality was a lifestyle choice?
Are we to assume that you've backed off from that ridiculous position?

I find the idea of forced treatment based on impulses that may never be
acted on deeply disturbing. Everybody has wishes and desires which cannot or
should not be gratified. It's the ability to control oneself that is
important. The most depraved criminals in Dublin and Limerick are a threat
to everyone not because they have perverted impulses - it's because they
feel no restraint in indulging themselves, whether it's stealing a car or
raping a young relative.

Well, as you are undoubtedly aware, science fiction writers have that base
covered too. Lack of self control is the key to most things. Assert that
amongst the great and not-so-good and you solve society's problems at a
stroke. How much better would it be to simply medicate everyone with a daily
dose of "Prozium" to achieve a state of "Equilibrium"? Policed by "Clerics",
perhaps?
Add a universal DNA database that makes us all "suspects" and you have a
vision of the future few of us would have dared to dream.
PS. Can't find anything in the New Scientist about this research, although
someone has suggested that political affiliation could be a mental
condition. Be afraid?...

Who, me? Are you sure?
Read the first two lists of words and pause for a few minutes. Then read
list 3 and put a mental tick against the words that were in the first two.
List 1:
apple, vegetable, orange, kiwi, citrus, ripe, pear, banana, berry, cherry,
basket, juice, salad, bowl, cocktail
List 2:
web, insect, bug, fright, fly, arachnid, crawl, tarantula, poison, bite,
creepy, animal, ugly, feelers, small
Now pause for a few minutes then scroll down...
List 3:
happy, woman, winter, circus, spider, feather, citrus, ugly, robber, piano,
goat, ground, cherry, bitter, insect, fruit, suburb, kiwi, quick, mouse,
pile, fish
Now go back and check your answers...
How spooky is that?
OK. So what were you saying?

No point at all. It's supposed to be a simple example of something called
false memory syndrome, or the Deese-Roediger-McDermott paradigm. I
remembered 'spider' too.
Apparently, a few years ago, the actor Alan Alda visited a group of memory
researchers at the University of California, for a TV show he was making.
During lunch, one of the scientists offered Alda a hard-boiled egg. He
turned it down, explaining that as a child he had made himself sick eating
too many eggs. In fact, this had never happened; the incident was a false
memory planted by one of UC's researchers, Elizabeth Loftus.
Before the visit, Loftus had sent Alda a questionnaire about his food
preferences and personality. She later told him that a computer analysis of
his answers had revealed some facts about his childhood, including that he
once made himself sick eating too many eggs. There was no such analysis but
it was enough to convince him.
And I haven't fed the troll. Honestly.

Ray, have a look at this? Dr Kinsey is well known in this field:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alfred_Kinsey
It will go some way to prove your ideas are very foolish ones. Had he been
alive, I would suggest you go see him. Since he is long dead, I suggest you
see a modern equivalent.

It's called Conservativism! and it needs no cure! What's needed is the world
to see things as we do! Then things will be fine!

Did you see the new SanFan poster advertising the new gay pride march? It's a
murder of the Last Supper with Jesus... Only in this one... It's queers
dressed in leather and the Host is replaced with sex toys... And this is what
queers do to try and convince us Christians they are not evil... Yes...
