Time To Leave Afghanistan /S D Rodrian
1) In Afghanistan we are NOT fighting
an invading army but a local insurgency.
2) Furthermore, the ONLY difference between
the Taliban and the Afghans we are fighting
them for ... is that the Taliban are actively
trying to get us out of Afghanistan while their
enemies are willing to let us fight the Taliban
for them:
There is NO moral distinction between their
two sides (no matter what the bloody White
House spin surgeons tell you): They are both
Islamic abusers of women and implacable
promoters of the idea that non-Muslims are
enemies to be butchered at leisure and at
the first possible opportunity: That is US.
This is just as true of the Taliban in Pakistan
and of the Pakistani government ... where no
matter how much treasure we may pour into that
poor excuse for a country the average Pakistani
only despises us more and holdes us in ever-
increasing contempt.
The ONLY excuse we have for being there is to
try to avenge al-Qaida's attacks against us, and
when was the last time you heard of us hitting
ANY al-Qaida? On the contrary, it is the Pakistani
government and people we support (at the expense
of the health care of our seniors and other of our
most vulnerable citizens) who FORBID our military
going after Osama bin Laden and his network of
murderers. Is this logical?! Is this reasonable!?
Is there a point to giving Pakistan one rusted penny
when in an instant we could take out its nuclear
threat to the civilized world once and for all ... and
then let the Pakistanis have a real reason for their
unabiding hatred and contempt for Americans.
And the same for Afghanistan: Let the murderers
and butchers the Afghans want for their leaders lead
them--Who are we to waste our treasure and the
lives of so many countless young Americans in a
vain and pointless attempt to dictate to them which
cruel and brutal batch of bastards should lead them.
Are there not bombs enough in America to teach
whichever gang of murderers they pick for themselves
the folly of messing with the United States?
For us there is no real common enemy in either
Afghanistan or in Pakistan with anybody there--
For us there's just us (everybody there's present
or future enemy)... and whichever present enemies
we are sacrificing our young people (in order to
protect our future enemies).
Respect is NEVER bought with charity. But
contempt is what we are buying ourselves in
that entire region (and elsewhere) with our
willingness to to abuse ourselves & to let
ourselves be abused so contemptuously.
