London Gets Four out of Guantanamo

London, Dec 8 (Prensa Latina) Four residents of Great Britain currently
imprisoned in the illegal US naval base in Guantanamo, Cuba, will be
released soon, the London press reported Saturday.

They are Jordanian Jamil el-Banna, Libyan Omar Deghayes, Algerian
Abdenour Samuel and Saudi Arabian Shaker Abdur-Raheem Aamer.

The three first prisoners will return to London, but the fourth inmate
will be sent to his country of birth.

A fifth man with the same condition of resident in Great Britain,
Ethiopian Binyam Mohammed al-Habashi, was not included in the group.

This release is a result of negotiations between the London and
Washington governments, three months after British authorities changed
policy and decided to represent prisoners and demand their freedom.

Until August, the official position stated that those accused were not
benefited from the legal English representation because they had no
British nationality.

Referring to the detention of people in Guantanamo, lawyer Zachary
Katznelson, representative of some of those imprisoned said justice is
absent from the illegal US base in Cuban territory.

The prisoners' camp on this site started operating in 2002 and over 300
people have been imprisoned since then.
